The Simple Facial Mask Recipes

the simple facial mask recipes

Believe me, there are days that you need to have “me-time” so badly. Here are the simple facial mask recipes that you can do at the comfort of your home. To top it off, you can get most of the ingredients right from you kitchen! And they are crazily affordable plus simple to prepare, why should you pay hundreds to visit spa salons when you just need to buy some essential oils ( if you do not have, please do so, they are so helpful to de-stress!) and the relaxing music to nicely create the home spa mood? You will also have radiant face and soft baby skin after practicing the recipes I have personally collected for you, for some I even tweaked them a little to improve the recipes . Don’t worry, I made myself the experiment, they work amazingly! You don’t really need to spend thousands for the big brand facial mask products. Make sure you continue reading. You will be literally shocked “when they are so close to you, but you never realized how powerful they are, more than just foods lying in your stomach”.

-Important Notes-

Although you are excited to do the simple facial mask recipes, but we should know the proper 10 steps of doing these masks at home so it will bring effective radiant skin results:

  1. Prepare a small fresh batch every time.
  2. Get ready a wide brush and a ceramic, stainless steel or glass bowl.
  3. Cut two very thin cucumber to relax your tired eyes.
  4. Keep the prepared mask in the refrigerator to make them cool for better feeling.
  5. Cleanse your face thoroughly, you can give the homemade natural soap bars I highly recommended a try. Read the real testimonials on that site for better convince. I am using the soaps myself and even for Jaeden to cure his rashes problem. The pure soaps make you feel like having a spa treatment.
  6. Dip washcloth into very warm water and cover your face with it till it cools off. This will help to open your pores.
  7. Exfoliate using a homemade scrub to remove the dead skin cells which will help your mask absorbs better. (I love lavender wheatgerm scrub the best. Mix 1 tablespoon wheat germ, 1 tablespoon full cream milk powder, 1 teaspoon organic lavender buds and 2 tablespoons water. Scrub and love the results. Will share in the next post about simple homemade scrubs.)
  8. Take a clean wide brush and apply the mask with it.
  9. After the said waiting time, wipe off with a damp wash cloth or rinse off with warm water.
  10. Don’t forget to follow with a toner or moisturizer.

For Glowing Face: Egg White Face Mask

One of the most convenient, easiest but incredibly effective masks to use on your face! You can take the whites for this when you make egg benedict. This mask will help to clear blackheads, shrink your pores and leave your skin glowing after the wash. (I’m actually doing this mask while writing this article, ahakss.)

  1. Take the whites from an organic egg.
  2. Add one tablespoon of lemon juice.
  3. Apply to your clean face for 15 minutes. You will feel a tightening sensation which means it is working!
  4. Remove with warm water and admire yourself into the mirror!

For Removing Acne Scars and Blemishes: Wheat Germ Cinnamon Milky Mask

This is a natural way to fade acne scars and blemishes. I always love to use the combination of wheat germs (or rolled oats) and milk or yogurt. This combination will leave your skin looking so young and soft like baby’s. Let’s do it.

  1. Prepare 1 cup of milk, half cup of wheat germ (roll oats), 1 tablespoon of cinnamon and two drops of lemon juice.
  2. mix them up and apply to your face and neck for 20 minutes.
  3. take a bath to wash them off.
  4. Use Thayers Alcohol-free Rose Petal Witch Hazel with ALoe Vera to act as the uplifting facial toner.

For Flawless Skin to Fight Wrinkles, Eczema and Dark Circles: Turmeric Face Mask

I started using this mask after I have seen how my Indian friends are having a flawless face. They have been practicing this traditional mask recipe at home. Turmeric is a very good antioxidant and inflammatory agent. Honey is anti-bacterial and great to moisturize the dry skin whereas milk contains lactic acid that will exfoliate the skin. The trio is a good match for beautiful skin.

  1. Prepare 1 teaspoon of turmeric, 1 teaspoon of raw organic honey and 1 teaspoon of milk.
  2. Mix them up to form a firm paste so it will then stick to your face. Be careful that turmeric is a dye and will stain. So, tie your hair properly and wear a less-favorite shirt.
  3. Apply to your face for 15 minutes.
  4. Rinse off with warm water.
  5. Use Thayers Alcohol-free Rose Petal Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera to act as the uplifting facial toner.

Well, these are the simple facial mask recipes you can prepare at home. Enjoy and tell me whether they work for you!

    Hi there,

Lovely recipes there but I would recommend not using plastic mixing tub due to plastics containing Xeno-estrogens, which is not good for either men or women and of course BPA (Bisphenol A).

I have heard that Ginger, used a lot is Asian cooking can make some fantastic facial masks, is that true?

Thank you for your kind reminder, I missed stating BPA free there but I think we just avoid using plastic would be the best. Yes, ginger is well used in Asian cooking and can help to treat pimples and return the skin to its vitality healthy look. It is good for any skin type. You can try the simplest recipe:

1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger root

      1 tablespoon olive oil

mix it and put on your face and neck for 15-20 minutes.

      rinse with warm water.

      Happy trying!

Ohhh.. wow I love those “do it yourself” things. One tablespoon this… two pinches that… few grains or little bit… It’s like alchemy, but much more fun. So with pleasure I will try every recipe. It can be wonderful part of pajama party.
So good luck and keep up the circumstantial work.
P.S. I heard that horseradish is very useful for hair maybe it will be useful for thinking about another topic.

      Hi Rasa,

I think we are like-minded about the DIY thing, haha, I like how you described this as a pajama party; I thought the “masked look” would just scare my husband and son away but I just don’t care, the benefits are too huge!

Thank you for the suggestion, will do some research about that.
