Lemon water for detoxing

In this post, we discuss  lemon water for detoxing and some of the benefits that there are to a lemon water detox.

What is a Detox Drink?

A detox drink is often portrayed as some complex drink only used by beauty queens, although a lot of people overlook the fact that making yourself a detox drink is an incredibly simple process and there isn’t actually a lot to it.

The word “detox” can be used in many different situations (the most common being alcoholism), however a detox in terms of our bodies means to get rid of toxins and other unhealthy substances which have worked their way into our bodies. There are a lot of nasty things that can lead to illnesses, and making a detox drink like lemon water can help get rid of them.

What are the Benefits of Making Lemon Water for Detoxing?

There are many different benefits that you can gain from making lemon water for detoxing, all of which will show you exactly why you should incorporate it into your life.

Your skin

Lemons contain very high levels of Vitamin C, a vitamin which our body loves. Vitamin C contains antioxidants which fight the “bad” cells of our body and therefore helps supports your body in maintaining healthy skin. Not only that, but these same antioxidants allow for your body to heal any injuries that you may have undergone recently, making the recovery process faster than before.

Vitamin C

As mentioned above, our bodies love Vitamin C. This vitamin is very important to our bodies as it helps support our immune systems in developing and becoming stronger, which then goes on to helping us fight diseases or any infections that we may be suffering from. This is a very important factor to consider.

Your breath

Don’t be ashamed if you think you have bad breath; a lot of people do. However, with a lemon water detox you are able to battle bad breath and live happier knowing that this healthy drink has helped you get rid of bad breath. This is purely due to the strength of lemon juices.

Diet control

Just like when you brush your teeth, the after-taste of toothpaste pushes you away from wanting to eat anything for at least an hour. Similarly, if you were to drink a lemon water detox, you would feel less inclined to eat afterwards due to the taste that it leaves in your mouth. If you are looking to take on a weight loss program or simply improve your lifestyle, then a lemon water detox is the perfect path to take.

Urinary tract

As unpleasant as it is to think about, when drinking a lemon water detox your urinary tract will become cleaner and generally healthier. The detox will help kill off any bacteria that has been left behind there as well as preventing UTI’s from occurring.

Kidneys and liver

That’s right, a lemon water detox can in fact have a great impact on both the functionality of your kidney and your liver. This is due to the drink promotes enzyme production as well as supporting metabolic maintenance.

Kidney stones

While more common among men, it’s definitely worth doing all you can to help your other half get away from the risk of ever suffering from kidney stones. Studies have shown that the citric acid which comes from lemons has helped not only discourage, but slow down, the production of kidney stones. How amazing!

I heard a lot of times that lemon water was good or detoxing, but as I was never a huge fan of lemonades and stuff, I never tried it. However, that part with the benefits it has on skin convinced me to give it a try, even though I don’t really like its taste
I think I’ll try that recipe with honey, lime and cucumber…and some other ingredients too lol. That seems the closest to my taste.
Thanks for these ideas, I really enjoyed reading 🙂

I use lemons occasionally when I cook. They’re really great especially when paired with rich food. These lemon drink recipes sound great and I’ll probably it with warm water and honey as they’re always available in my kitchen.

The addition of mint leaves sound interesting. I’ll give that a go too when I have some. Thanks for sharing these recipes!

      Hi Yvonne,

I am sure you will love the taste of mint leaves, they add the sweet flavor to your lemon water, especially when you combine honey. Thank you for leaving me a comment!

Although I am not young any longer, you gave me some ideas to meet my great grand-daughter. I like many things about your entertaining website. But let me make a few suggestions. There are a LOT of icons; at the top, side and bottom. There were a few I did not know. Two–I am not sure who you visitor is, but she is a busy woman. Lot of things she needs to do. I like the way you have the list of your posts. I wish you had picked a theme with only one side and the main side. On the left, you could put some childish drawings or for each site, tell a story of what your child did–funny or otherwise. Wow and all this free things and there is the packaging, the mailing expense. Are people going to get the free book and you are out the money? You have the trends or interest sites at the bottom. This will take time to change periodically. Please also add some underline, or italics, bold too here and there. So you are having your money come from the “store” which I know so little. Just check expense and overhead with the profit at the end. You are going to have a lot of work on this website, but you are very creative and talented. How many websites are you planning to have? I hope my suggestions helped you. I really loved your website.

      Hi Judy,

Thank you for taking a ride around my website and your kind suggestions. I guess you are interested to work from home using a blog like what I am doing? That’s great! You can definitely learn more from the category on my menu- “work home opportunities”. To answer a few of your questions, I will not out the money if someone subscribes and gets the free book, that’s the digital product I created and it runs automatically using email marketing software. Yes, the store is where I recommend the best Amazon products for my mom audience like you. I am planning to have the second website if the time is right. Thanks for your support!

Thanks for this! I live in southern California and have 3 lemon trees on our property. I’ve been drinking lemon water for years each morning first thing. Someone told me long ago of the health benefits, and it seemed like an easy thing to do… So I appreciate your recipes here and can’t wait to try them! Nice job!

Superb info on mixing lemon with water.

I’ve heard about some people drinking lemon water when they’re on a weight loss program, as a way to drink on something refreshing without adding calories.

But oh wow, the honey lemon drink sounds so delicious. Add to that the detoxification and other positive effects (I had no idea lemon water helps with kidney stones) and you’re in for a treat.

Simon, trust me, the honey lemon drink is really an awesome duo! Let me know whether we can get a “high 5” after you have made it. ^_*

Your recipes are very easy to follow which i like as i really don’t do complicated, how many times a week would you have to take the honey lemon drink for it to take effect?
I have enjoyed reading this keep up the good work 🙂

      Hi Sharoncl,

Thank you for reading this article and have a different view about lemon. To take effect, it is advisable to take the honey lemon drink 5 days in a week. If you have cough and sore throat, you can squeeze the juice to mix with the honey and swallow it like a cough syrup, it works like a charm!
